Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to do my upgrades and get back to hacking my thermometer.

Score 1/2. I got the upgrades done, I successfully rebuild the Arduino program that sends temperature data to MQTT, now I need to revive the thing on the server that listens to MQTT and logs to Influx. The first step towards this end is run nix-shell and watch it for some length of time (longer than it will take to post this blog entry) as it rebuilds apparently the known Haskell universe.

In other news, bought some wifi-enabled sockets so we can control the Christmas lights without having to grope around behind the TV. This information more relevant to UK readers than anyone in the rest of the world - they are branded "TCPSmart", they're available in Screwfix, and I am 95% sure they have Tuya internals. At least, I successfully added them to the Smart Life app on my phone. Relevant links I haven't tried yet:
